Land
Bus
All intercity buses leave from Dammam, with the single exception of a nonstop Saptco VIP service between Al-Khobar and Riyadh (SR90, five hours). It leaves from the Algosaibi Hotel (882 2882; Prince Talal St) from where you can also buy tickets.
Car
Considered reputable among the many car rental companies are Avis (895 5053; www.avis.com.sa;8am-10pm Sat-Thu, 2pm-10.30pm Fri). Hire per day, including insurance plus 150km free, starts at SR80, then SR0.23 per extra kilometre.
