I'm planning on heading to Rwanda in September, and I'm traveling solo. I want to see the gorillas and spend a few more days in Volcanoes Nat'l Park trekking and seeing the golden monkeys. Does anyone have any suggestions for a safari company that is reasonably priced? The LP guide only lists 2, and one is super expensive.

Thanks!

Kigali to Arusha Feb 2016

Before I left the UK I tried to research the Kigali to Arusha route without much success - having recently done it I have to report it is very simple

Got a moto (400 from centre of Kigali ) to Nyabugogo Bus station Tell the moto driver you're going on Select and he'll take you to the right entrance

I went with a bus company called "Select" (Mutanda go as well)

Buses go every half hour from 3. 30am - I took the 4.30am bus - 3000 RWF

Got to Resumo 7.30am

After I…

Hey there! I'm planning on doing a 3-day-trekking tour to Mt Nyiragongo in DRC, starting on 2nd June in Uganda, through Rwanda to Goma, then climbing up the volcano to the lavalake and stay on the crater for one night.
Someone from Uganda/Rwanda wants to join me? Trip is VERY expensive though, but it's one of the most active volcanos on the earth and you can get to the edge of an huge lavalake!
So would be great do find some hiking mates!

Hi,

We're planning our 2 week trip to Rwanda but struggling a little with logistics!

This is our plan:

Kigali > Musanze > Kibuye > Nyungwe > Akagera > Kigali

We will be renting a car from Kigali for Akagera NP at least, but are unsure whether we should rent the car for Nyungwe NP as well.

This would mean getting the bus from Kibuye to Kigali to collect the car then drive down to Nyungwe NP (quite a big diversion and not sure if this is possible in one day!)

Otherwise we would attempt to…

Hi,

We are hoping to be able to travel by bus from Musanze to Kibuye after the gorilla tracking.

Does anyone know how long this journey takes and if we are likely to be able to make it there on the same day?

It's unclear what kind of time we are likely to be back after the gorillas.

Hey travellers!
I am travelling in East Africa later this year with very few plans. I am a anthropology/development student with a passion for the specialty coffee industry and a research interest in direct trade and women's co-ops.
Does anyone know of any coffee plantations that I could visit in Rwanda? I am hoping to spend at least 2 weeks at one plantation to watch and participate. I have fluent English, good French and workable kiswahili. Am happy for suggestions in Kenya (where I spend most…

Hey All,
My wife and I are headed to Rwanda this coming July and we want to save a couple bucks and book our own Gorilla trek. From what I've gathered so far we can apply for (and hopefully get) our permits online. I guess I'm wondering is is possible to hire guides/drivers once we are there? What is that process like? Really any info from anyone with related experience would be much appreciated.

Thanks for Your Help,
Colin

I will be in Kenya and Tanzania next month and was thinking about going to either Rwanda or Uganda to see gorillas and maybe chimps. I dont know much about setting something up, but if we go, we would like to do it on as much of a budget as possible. Is it cheaper to try to get permits on your own, or is it not worth it, and better to just make arrangements with a safari outfitter? If its better through an operator, which do you recommend, and how much was it?

I'm an Irish citizen and need to apply for a visa before I arrive in Rwanda. As part of the process I need to supply a letter of invitation. I read on a forum that in lieu of this you can attach your flight tickets. Just to be doubly safe I attached my flight ticket confirmation and also an email from the Rwanda Tourist board confirming my Gorilla permit for Volcanoes National Park. However, this morning I got a reply to my visa application asking that I include my letter of invitation as it's…

Hello, I'm looking for advice (possibly reassurance) or to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

I applied for an East Africa Visa through Rwanda's Immigration and was approved however on the approval letter (and thus my visa) my arrival date is listed as 2016-05-3 and my birthdate yyyy-07-3 when both dates are actually the 30th. It's worth noting that the dates are not listed as, '03' but as '3'. I know I selected them both right as I'm always paranoid about these things and double check…
