Also having a very bourgeois time of it was Lenin, who holed up for a while before the revolution at an apartment owned by his wife’s family. This is now preserved as the Yelizarov Museum, housed in a striking ocean-liner-like building built in 1913. The flat’s delightful turn-of-the-20th-century fittings have again been preserved intact.
