Also known as the House of Matiushin, the Petersburg Avant-garde Museum occupies a charming grey-painted wooden cottage (rare for the city centre) dating from the mid-19th century that was once the home of avant-garde artist Mikhail Matiushin (1861–1934) and a couple of his wives. Displays relating to Matiushin’s work and that of his coterie can be found inside.
