Kavkaz
Good for: students, backpackers, a cheap meal
Lonely Planet review for Kavkaz
Another long-standing favourite, Kavkaz means ‘Caucasus’ and features excellent Georgian fare. It’s a casual affair: the basement digs are not so impressive to look at, but the portions are generous and the food – served on large wooden platters – is consistently delectable. This is the place to experience the legendary Georgian hospitality (and shashlyk and wine etc).

Gorgeous Georgian!

Great place, really great!
Mains are around 300 rubles, although if you want to splurge there's a couple of mains much more expensive that sounded awesome but were out of our price range (two Australian guys, mid-20s).
Service was some of the best we've experienced in Russia. All waitresses spoke English and smiled (a rarity in this country). We had a red wine from Azerbaijan, which was interesting, well worth a try!
Plenty of food and decent enough value. If we hadn't had the wine (which was a little pricey) we could have got out of there for around 400 rubles each for meal and drink.
