If you wanted to recommend cool travel agency Deposits from Polish.
I ordered from them tickets for Trans-Siberian Railway from Moscow to Novosibirsk and Irkutsk on to Lake Baikal.
I made it with them visa to Russia for 30 days.
They have a very good knowledge and contacts with the Russian rail! I was impressed!
So with spkojnym srdcem I recommend them.
Maybe someone is it useful?
I'm looking for St Petersburg-based travel journalists or bloggers who write in English, so just thought I'd try here in case anyone like that is active on the forum or can recommend someone they know. Thanks beforehand!
I completed a solo journey across Russia from Moscow to Vladivostok in September. Cities visited include Vladimir,Ekaterinburg, Tobolsk,Novosibirsk,Irkutsk,Ulan Ude, Chita,Belogorsk, Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk,Komsomolsk Na Amure and Vladivostok. Not all these were overnight stays, but most were. I stayed in several hostels, 2 hotels in cities without a hostel, and slept many nights on a train. This was actually an around the world journey so you can continue reading the blog beyond…
There is a discussion going on over at the expat.ru site about a very recent change in rules at the Belarus-Russia border. Users are reporting that foreigners (non Russian or Belarus citizens) are no longer allowed to travel across this border, but instead must use a border entry with immigration controls (which does not include the Minsk-Moscow route).

A group of friends (6) including myself plan to do Russia in Summer 2017. Plan is fly to Vladivostok from USA. Take Transsib from there via Skovorodino. From Tynda, we will take BAM to Severobaikalsk and explore Lake Baikal. Next to Irkutsk via plane/hydofoil? And then Trans-Mongolian to Ulanbataar. Fly back to USA
I have a bunch of questions :
1) What class is advised on Transib and BAM. 3rd or 2nd class. Our Russian is quite poor.
2) How much time should we keep in Severobaikalsk…
I'm heading to Russia soon and have some very specific questions regarding travelling there. I travelled there some years ago and am just checking if things have changed. I loved the place so don't get me wrong, I'm just curious about whether things have changed.
1 - Is there still dual pricing in Russia?
2- What is the cheapest accommodation I can get in Moscow and St Petersburg? Are there Hostels, do senior citizens still rent out rooms in their homes?
3 -What's the police situation like…
Did anyone applied for a Russian visa in Hong Kong and succeeded?
I'm Belgian and will be travelling through Asia for a few months before arriving in Russia, so I can't apply for a Russain visa in my homecountry as I'm not there at the moment and I can't say yet when I will arrive in Russia.
So when I'm in Hong Kong I will have a better idea when I will be in Russia.
Anyone who did this?
Would be great to get some more info on the "how to".
My partner and I took the two-day DBS ferry from Vladivostok in Russia to Sakaiminato in Japan in early August. Before booking the tickets, I spent quite some time trying to find up-to-date information about this voyage, but most of what I found was irrelevant or too old. I wanted to know what currency to bring, could I charge my laptop, what would I do during the stop-over in Donghae etc...
In case anyone is looking for similar information, I put together some notes from our…
maybe most of you spent a lot of money and effort in booking russian train for transiberian routes or elsewhere through physical or on line agencies that can charge even the 80% more than the real ticket price. I realised only now - but I want to share this information - that with an easy app "RZD in english" you can now book with your smartphone from everywhere in the world any train ticket with russian railways, even if you want to go from Moscow to ulan bator or Beijing or…
