I am asking this question on behalf of my husband. He is going to see a lawyer for this issue, but the appointment is 3 weeks away and I want some feedback until then.
Husband moved at age 10 from Russia to the US with his parents on a diversity visa. He became a US citizen at 18. He is now 30.
He was registered at his home in Moscow with multiple other people. His grand parents, their son (husband's dad), grandson (husband), DIL (husband's mom), their daughter (husband's aunt)…
Two questions about transport to Tuva.
- Is the road between Abakan and Ak Dovurak (via Abaza) open in winter?
- Are there and buses or shared taxis on this route? (I found a very old report of shared taxis departing every morning from Abaza to Ak Dovurak - can anyone confirm this?)
Thanks and happy travels,
We (two EU citizens living in Belgium) are about to apply for a 90-day double-entry business visa for Russia. We are planning to use an agency to get the visa support document (invitation), HOWEVER, in Belgium the Russian consulate also requires a guarantee letter from our employers. This was not even included on VHS' list of requirements online - I only found out when I gave them a call - and looking around I find some websites that mention it and others that don't. I've called…
I'm been trawling the internet for information but finding a good site elusive. Basically my question is a general one:
Trans-siberian express: do's and don'ts?
Also, overall yes or no?
Any thoughts gratefully received.
We are on a cruise which has a general Hermitage excursion but doesn't visit the General Staff Building to see the Impressionist collection. After we visit the Hermitage we can just walk across the square to the GSB, but what is the best way to get back to the ship afterwards?
Hi there, we are planing to visit Russia from 27 May to 7 June using Airbnb both in Moscow and St Petersburg.
I know that we need to register visas within 7 business days and if staying in another place for min 7 days.
4 nights Moscow - flying into Moscow
1 night Suzdal
2 nights Novgorod
4 nights St Petersburg - Flying out of St Petersburg
The issue is that we are not in any place for more that 4 nights. I am planning to register in Moscow (asked Airbnb host already and he would send both the…
We are due to land at Khabarovsk Airport early 24th March morning. We would like to visit Bolshoi Ussuriysky Island during the couple of days' stay in the area. Here are some questions:
1) how can we organize transport (prefer public transport) to the main settlement on the island during this time of year?
2) any special sights worth visiting other than the main settlement?
3)can we get close to the Chinese border (China owns a portion of the island)?
4) the island shrinks in size…
Moscow's Gulag Museum has recently moved to a new larger building.
The Museum covers the history of the Gulag, describing the transition from the revolutionary optimism of 1917 to the harsh realities of the 1920s and 1930s, and then on through to Stalin's death in 1953. There is a reasonable amount of English signage, although for some detailed topics there is only Russian. The exhibits start with a collection of cell doors and includes various gulag artifacts and prisoner’s possessions. A…
My flight to due to arrive Vladivostok Airport after 0430h. Some say we will be kicked out of the terminal building right after. Is there any suggestions as to where to spend a couple of hours in a 'safe warm' spot before taking public transport to the city?
Myself and my partner (both British passport holders) are looking to overland from Russia - Kazakhstan - Mongolia this year.
We wondered if anyone could advise on the best way to deal with visas etc. as of course we need to reenter into Russia to go between Kaz and Mongolia. The 30 day double entry tourist visa seems a little short on time to be sure we'll make it through from Estonia - Russia - Kaz - Russia - and enter into Mongolia!
Is it at all feasible for tourists to obtain the longer…
