    Memories brought to life

    Back in the Soviet Union, when my Mom was a student, there were not so many restaurants or cafes in Moscow and everyone knew exactly where this or that cafй was located. For my Mom when you say Shokoladnitsa, you say the one on Oktyabrskaya metro station, you say her youth, you say her schoolmates, you say the time of her life. There are plenty of Shokoladnitsas now in Moscow, it is a whole network like Starbucks or Coffee House, but me and my Mom, we still prefer to go exactly to this one, on Oktyabrskaya, where the coffee is still delicious and hot, where the smell of pancakes with raspberry still arises the wildest appetite and where the voices of the past, my Mom’s past, strong and young, are still alive.
