I m in road planning for my one week Moscow trip.... excluding the BIG place to go, where else is good for experience the local culture / shopping stuff~? (if they're safe and clean?)

Apologies if this has been asked, but I've seen various different answers on the Internet.
I am planning on going to Moscow for about five days and will get an invitation letter for a tourism visa. I am in American passport holder so that should wind up giving me a three year tourist visa. I will leave Moscow in about two weeks later I will enter St. Petersburg.
My question is, would I need an invitation letter from the hotel in St. Petersburg, too? Or is that initial…
Just wondering if anyone has used a visa service for their trip to russia that they would recommend. It looks like if we go in person to the embassy we have to make an appt and the first appt we can get is the week before we leave- too close for comfort! I've never used a visa service before and just want to get some recommendations before I do.
I'm in the process of planning a trip on the TSR and can't decide which season to go in. I know that summer has the most activities available but I also wanted to go skiing (Baikalsk/Krasnoyarsk) or dog sledding, however I don't particularly want to go in winter when the natural landscape will be covered in a blanket on snow. I have heard that autumn is a nice time to go but is there still a range of summer and winter activities on offer? Or is it better off just going in summer or winter?
I'll be heading to Russia for a month in about 2 weeks. I was thinking about going to Crimea. I did a search of the thorn tree and most of the posts are over a year old so I thought I would ask about anyone's more resent experience. Though any info would be good I was wondering about traspettation options. Are there regular fairies and if so from where? Would it be more practical to fly? Since I'll be ther in late July will I have trouble getting a fairie or room if I just show up? I have…
Can anyone recommend centrally located hotels in Moscow and St Petersburg for a first time visit? Location close to tourist sites, the metro and restaurants is probably our first priority as we like to explore on foot and it would be good to have a decent breakfast included (or be very close to cafes). Maximum budget around £80 but would be happy to pay significantly less than this and budget type places are fine. There seems to be an overwhelming number of options with mixed reviews and I'm…
Hi, I normally have no trouble changing british £ at currency exchanges in large cities in Russia, but following the vote for the UK to leave the EU and the fall in sterling I wondered if anyone knew whether £ are still exchangeable. I will be in Omsk, Tomsk and Irkutsk. If anyone can update on the situation (from today onwards) I would be grateful.
