Getting there & away

Sibiu lies at an awkward rail junction; often you’ll need to change trains. But there are three daily direct trains to Braşov (€6.75, 2½ hours); three to Bucharest (€14, five hours) and Timişoara (€14, five hours); and one early morning one to Arad (€10.80, five hours). To get to/from Sighişoara or Cluj-Napoca, you’ll have to change at Copşa Mică or Mediaş (about nine or 10 trains daily). For Alba Iulia, you have to change at Vinţu de Jos.
