Biserica Evanghelică information
The Gothic Biserica Evanghelică, built from 1300 to 1520, is partially scaffolded due to renovation but you can still climb the church tower ; ask for entry at Casa Luxemburg. Its 1772 organ features a staggering 6002 pipes (the largest in southeast Europe). In summer, organ concerts (5 lei) are held every Wednesday (6pm) and Sunday (10pm). The tomb of Mihnea Vodă cel Rău (Prince Mihnea the Bad), son of Vlad Ţepeş, is in a closed-off section behind the organ (ask for entry). This prince was murdered in front of the church in 1510.
