Is there any nice day hike near Sibiu?
My wife would like to see the Corvin castle, however, our itinerary does not allow us to spend a night in the vicinity of Hunedoara (which, apart from the castle is said to be a dreary town), so a day trip from Sibiu by train/bus would be our only option, in case it is doable.
So I'm in Hungary, about to fly into Bucharest for a 7 day drive through Romania. I just found out that my debit card bank blocks all transactions in Romania, as well as Croatia and Slovenia (where I'm going next). This presents many issues if I reach places where I can't use a credit card.
1) Can I expect to get away with a credit card most of the time?
2) If I can't get Euros from an ATM here in Budapest, I guess my only option is to bring over lots of Hungarian…
Hello! I'm trying to book the overnight train from Sibiu to Vienna on 23 September of this year. I found tickets for $140 on Rail Europe, but they don't have the option to reserve a sleeper car via that website. The Romanian train ticket website didn't offer the trip, and the Austrian one did but I'd have to print out tickets in Austria which would, unfortunately, be a day too late. How do I do this? Thank you!
Maybe someone knows the price of cigarettes in OTP duty free?
I found only British reviews that is the same as the city or even higher because there is no duty free price for The European Union citizens.
But I am not from EU, so if someone knows if the price in the duty free (for purchase back to my country) is cheaper i appreciate this. I want to know if buy in Bucharest or in the airport before I'm leaving.
I smoke Parliament night or Davidof red.
I read that smoking in casinos banned in Romania.
My question is if this realy Enforced or maybe some casinos in Bucharest turn a blind eye and you can smoke in spite of it?
Or there are smoking areas where you can smoke and play simultaneously?
I play only slots, no tables.
If you know if there is something of these From personal experience, i will glad get a specific places and details.
My sister and her family just arrived in Romania today. At the airport my nephew (7 years old) fell down and bruised his leg. Now he can't walk.
We need a recommendation for a good health centre (either hospital or private clinic) in Bucharest or near Brasov where he can be exmined and have an x-ray. They have medical insurance so I guess it does'nt matter even if it's a private clinic as long as as they can get high quality medical treatment.
We had intended to take a tour of Transylvania with a small group in a couple of weeks, but the hungarian guide/driver has just had an accident, cannot do the tour and this left us quite suddenly high and dry. So now we intend to go on our own and so far we could only sort out the flights to and from Bucharest , we intend to skip Bucharest altogehter though and stay at three "hubs" - Sighisoara, Sibiu and Brasov. Our rough planning looks like this:
Arrival at Bucharest airport early in the…
Hello everyone. I am a lady travelling alone to Romania, and I have refined my previously posted itinerary as shown below. I am most interested in villages rather than grand buildings, as I will be looking at buildings in Poland before getting to Romania.
I am having a horrible time with logistics. I do not want to drive alone, and I am getting quotes of about 120 euros per day for a simple car and driver, which is way above my budget. It looks like I will need four drivers for six separate…
