Hi! My visit to the Moldavia Monasteries such as Voronet, Sucevita happens to be on Sunday. What activities do I expect to see in these monasteries on Sunday? Would the Sunday services be off limit to visitors? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
Has anyone done the canyon hike and zip line at Seven Stairs Canyon (around Brasov)? It seems like it would be a fun diversion from city life, castles, etc. I'm interested in finding out more about it - how was it, does the zip line part seem safe? Also, do we block off a full day for this, is there other stuff to do in the area, etc. Thanks!
We will be visiting Bucharest and wish to see some of the surrounding countryside/villages before traveling on to Budapest.
Would anyone care to suggest things that we must see or do?
Any suggestions on how to travel about? Is the train our best option?
I am visiting Timisoara for a long weekend and would like to take my friend out to celebrate her 60th birthday. Looking for a recommendation for a better than average restaurant, preferably serving Romanian food, that has fish on the menu and where we could sit outside on a terrace. Doesn't need to have fancy white linen but would like to make the event a bit of a treat.
Any recommendations greatfully received.
I arrive on my BA flight to Romania at 5.30pm. I wanted to go to Brasnov that day. Is there a direct link - ie a bus which takes you from the airport.
If not, would I have to take the train. Where would I take the train from.
Thank you in advance if you take the time to respond.
I am going to hire a car and travel in Romania. I would like to stay in small villages in Apuseni and nearby regions. Not in a hostel or guesthouse but in a landlord or farmer's own home, board with him/her, see their day life, etc. I am ready for minimum facilities. Cold water, no Internet, no English and WC in the yard is quite ok :-)
I red in LP there are "Cazare" plates in the windows of homes offering rooms. My question whether it is relevant for peripheral and not so developed…
I am planning to travel to Romania in august, and would like to do at least a week of hiking, either one long trip or a couple of shorter ones (I.e. 3 days).
Just hoping to get some.suggestions on possible destinations, I really like wilderness areas and hoping to avoid really popular and crowded trails.
Thanks in advance!
I'm gonna be traveling to Cluj-Napoca area for a few days and wanna take public transportation from Cluj to Parcul Natural Apuseni. I can't find good information about the park for an independent traveller. Where is a good place to base myself in/near the park? How do I get there with public transport from Cluj?
Hello dear lovers of Romania,
I'll be heading to the Delta Dunarii next week and am still trying to figure out how to best get there. I will fly in at about 12 noon (Otopeni) and was
(1) thinking about taking a bus from Calea Plevnei/Carrefour Orhideea, but the company doesn't allow for online bookings or bookings via the phone - and I worry we won't get a spot that way.
(2) Taking the train would be an option, but the layover in Mediglia is very short (about 10 min). Does anybody know…
