Hello!

Myself and my boyfriend have four days in Romania in October (with return flights from Timisoara).

Our original plan was two days in Timisoara then drive/train/bus up to the mountains in Crisana to near the Apuseni National Park (enjoy the fresh air, caves, etc) or the spas in Baile Felix.

We're slightly worried about having enough time and what their will be to do once we get there.

Will things be open in winter?
Will there be snow? Will the roads be safe? Is it skiing territory?

Hi,

Planning to do a multi day hike around Apuseni in the beginning of October.
Is the weather still reasonable for hiking there?
Will appreciate suggested itineraries for 4-5 day hike. We prefer to go light and sleep indoors in pensions or equipped huts.
Thanks!

Hi, been poking around trying to figure out Bucharest to Chisinau sleeper and what i think i understand is that, i should be alright buying ticket the Gara de Nord on the day. I will be coming from Brasov middle of the day to mid afternoon. I will buy my round trip at that time. It seems that the schedule is Buch to Chis on mon/weds/fri and return tues/thurs/sun. Is that info correct?

Dears,

Could you help us out in planning a hiking holiday in Romania?

We are flying in to Timisoara in late September (Ryan Air flies there for 6 euros, return, from Dusseldorf, Weeze ;)) and are looking for stuff to hike.

We have been looking at Retezat national park and of course the Fagaras mountains. Are there anything else you might want to recommend? We are having a car, so anything within a 6h drive is reachable for us.

Thank you for your tips! :)

Thanks

I just wanted to say thanks to those who answered questions for me concerning my trip to Romania, you all have been very helpful. I just returned home today and thoroughly enjoyed myself in this wonderful country. The month there (and Ukraine) was just enough to entice me to return sometime. Thanks much.

On 22 August, 2016, I made an ATM withdrawal from BRD Bank (Groupe Société Générale) in Sibiu, Romania. Regrettably, I didn't pay enough attention to the exchange rate. They charged me an exchange rate of 1 USD = 3.6071 RON, even though their exchange rates posted inside were 1 USD = 3.8818 RON, and the XE mid-market rate for that day was 1 USD = 3.94 RON. That one transaction cost me USD 37 (or approximately 147 RON). The difference between using the ATM and their walk in rate was USD 29 (or…

Hello,

How difficult is it to find a taxi to go outside of Brasov for the day? I have written to my hotel to try and arrange this, but there has been no response. Is there a special place in Brasov to look for such a driver, or would many taxi drivers look favorably on such an opportunity? Any idea of what a fair price would be?

Thank you.

Is there any nice day hike near Sibiu?

My wife would like to see the Corvin castle, however, our itinerary does not allow us to spend a night in the vicinity of Hunedoara (which, apart from the castle is said to be a dreary town), so a day trip from Sibiu by train/bus would be our only option, in case it is doable.

Hey all,

So I'm in Hungary, about to fly into Bucharest for a 7 day drive through Romania. I just found out that my debit card bank blocks all transactions in Romania, as well as Croatia and Slovenia (where I'm going next). This presents many issues if I reach places where I can't use a credit card.

My questions:

1) Can I expect to get away with a credit card most of the time?

2) If I can't get Euros from an ATM here in Budapest, I guess my only option is to bring over lots of Hungarian…
