Lonely Planet review
This large property is split into two separate sections: a grassy garden area, where you'll find a selection of free-standing, self-contained units of varying sizes; and a superb beachside setting, where several luxurious studios are linked by a wooden walkway.
The garden units are pleasant enough but are unlikely to knock your socks off. The whitewashed exteriors are probably not quite what you might be expecting to find on a South Pacific island, but inside you'll be well catered for - each unit has a squarish open-plan bedroom and lounge decked out with coral-coloured floor tiles and wicker furniture, and there's a respectably sized kitchen just off the main living area. If you can't be bothered to look after your own cooking, the onsite bar/bistro, The Yellow Hibiscus, serves tropical breakfast (free for guests) and excellent à la carte dining. Across the road from the garden complex are the impressive beach studios, which offer thatched roofs, fibre-plait walls and splendid seafront verandahs, and are probably much closer to the kind of thing you were dreaming about when you sat down to plan your trip to the Cook Islands. Unsurprisingly, they're also on the expensive side - but then, who said daydreams came cheap?
