Travel Guide to the Qatar 2022 World Cup
Blog: Pommie Travels - 5 December 2010
Until a few days ago, I bet many people couldn’t point out Qatar on a map or had even heard of it. Qatar??? Mention the word Qatar and I imagine people sat in their living rooms mistaking it for condition, catarrh, a not-so-nice condition involving a build up of mucus in nasal passages. The tiny [...]

Doha, Qatar
Blog: By Way of the World - 30 August 2009
Qatar is a small country next to Saudi Arabia on the Arabian Peninsula, not too far away from Dubai. Native Arabs only consist of about 20% of the current population; the rest consists of workers brought in from many other parts of the world (including Nepal which I think is why the flight was so cheap on this route). We'd decided to stop there for a few days since our flight had a 12-hour layover anyway. We hadn't made it to Dubai as originally planned, so we figured Qatar would be interesting.

McArabia: McDonald’s in the Arab World
Blog: Everything Everywhere - 29 April 2009
Since I last wrote about McDonald’s when I was in Dubai, I’ve been in Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt and Jordan. As all of the McDonald’s in the Arabian Peninsula are owned by the same company, there isn’t a whole lot to add to what I had to say about McDonald’s in Dubai. I [...]
