We are planning a trip along the Gulf countries in January 2017. We are holders of EU passports, but we are not on the Qatari list of countries eligible for visa on arrival. We would like to visit Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE. Have no problem with visas for any of these countries except Qatar. Our accommodation will be through couchsurfing. And here we come to the problem. My question is: Is there any possibility to get a tourist visa to Qatar without paying the hotel for the entire stay…

I will be in Dubai and I thought of visiting a friend who lives in Doha. I heard it is not possible for me to stay at my friends accommodation unless I am immediate family. Is that true? I will only stay for 2 days and apparently need a tourist visa which I cannot get on arrival nor from Qatar airways as I will not be flying with them.

I'm a budget traveler, which are budget hotels ($50-60/ night) which I can use to obtain this visa? Is it possible to obtain this visa and then cancel the…

Hi, I'm flying from Barcelona to Tokyo and will have a 7 hours stopover in Doha. Please:
1- Is it complicated to board a public bus to the city and back (Bus 777 of Mowasalat).
2- Is it possible to pay with credit card, or must pay with QAR?
3- Any suggestions about what to do during 4 o 5 hours? I was thinking about have a walk from the great mall area to Souq Waqif by the Corniche.

Thanks a lot.

Hi, I'm looking at a few days stopover in either qatar or abu dhabi. I was thinking abu dhabi just to see the sheikh zayed mosque, which looks just incomparably beautiful in photos. But then I started looking at qatar and it seems to have more in the way of museums and heritage, plus the west bay architecture looks stunning. Does anyone know both these cities? I'm not interested in visiting shopping malls or western brands at all - would much prefer somewhere that feels distinctive.

This is last minute but I'm in Doha for a couple days and want to go dune bashing and swimming in the inland sea tomorrow or Friday. You have to have at least two people. Costs USD100 for a full day with dune bashing, dune boarding, swimming, BBQ, and camp fire. Check out the link. Anyone in? https://discoverqatar.qatarairways.com/qa-en/holiday/inland-sea-safari-9254b4f514013027511ee9eb7b83ede3/overview

Hi, I have a midday 9 hour layover in Doha. I would love to leave the airport and scope out the city for about 6 hours, but I'm not sure if it's worth the $70 visa.
Does anyone have any tips for having the best 6 hours in Doha? Is it worth leaving the airport and what is the cost of transportation to the city center?

I'm on seroquel to sleep, I know it's on the banned mecication list for the UAE. However I can't find any info about it for Qatar. Anyone know? I only have a 9 hour layover, however I know they scan carry on luggage before being permitted in the passenger terminal.

Thanks.
