I will be staying in PR for a little over a week, and plan on renting a car from San Juan. From there, I would travel counter clock-wise going to Arecibo, Rincon, Ponce, El Yunque, and ending up in Vieques.
My question: should I leave the rental car in Fajardo somewhere while I take the ferry and spend a couple nights on Vieques? Is this advisable? Any suggestions? My other thought is to return the car to SJ and take a short flight to Vieques instead - but I would much rather experience…
Can someone recommend a nice hostel in puerto rico, where it's easy to meet other travellers, backpackers?
It would be perfect, when there is the possibility included to take surf lessons (or diving), but the most important thing is to meet other people, maybe at the beach but also with the option to party.
Any suggestions? Budget: around 50$/night
Don't even bother! This is the worst car rental experience ever! I have traveled all over the world and never been disrespected the way I was at this place. Not only did they try to "swindle" me into paying more for services I didn't use, they BLATANTLY lied to my face and told me inaccurate information about daily charges.
When we confronted the manager about the issues, they continued to "call for backup" and slyly said, "the customer didn't know they had to pay... blah blah blah..." in…
I'll be flying to Tortola from Miami. As part of the flight, I have a layover in San Juan. I've never visited San Juan before, so I was thinking about taking an earlier flight in and getting out to see the city for 3-4 hours before my flight out. I know this won't do San Juan/Puerto Rico justice, but it's better than nothing, right?
Therefore, I wanted to ask if it would make sense to explore on my own, hire a tour guide/driver, or just stay put in the airport. Any thoughts and/or…
I'm 45 years old and will be in Rincon for a week. I want to learn how to surf and of course I want to stay out of the way of the experienced guys. What is the best beach to begin on? I want to rent a board for 6 days but not spend as much as a new board would cost. Can anyone help me out with some advice?
Hello Everybody! As ya'll should really already know, Vieques Puerto Rico is an amazing place with a lot to offer. The problem is it's hard to get to for many travelers. It's often expensive and time consuming to rent a car and leave it while paying not to use it, paying for a flight, or paying seventy five bucks each way for the cab.
So here's how to get to Vieques from San Juan and not break yer budget ( I hope you stay at Island Time Hostel while in San Juan, and I think Travelers World…
We're headed to Puerto Rico over Thanksgiving week and are leaning towards spending a few days on Vieques, or possibly Culebra.
Are there any great places to stay on the beach where there's decent snorkeling right there? Bonus points if there are hammocks or other comfy, shady spots to relax, read a book, and listen to the waves.
Definitely up for doing some trips out to better snorkeling beaches, but having it as an option right where we're staying is a huge bonus.
I will be visiting Puerto Rico during the week of Thanksgiving. Does anyone have suggestions on what will be open on Thanksgiving day and what sightseeing will be open that day? How can I spend Thanksgiving day in Puerto Rico?
Thanks in advance.
