Hello travelers! Headed to Puerto Rico next week and car rentals are crazy expensive! Curious if there are alternatives to car rentals for being mobile and spontaneous- vans, buses, something else? Starting in San Juan but may want to check out Culebra, El Yunque, etc.
Also, looking to camp around the island, preferably on a beach! If you can recommend any places and whether you have to book in advance would really appreciate it!
Some friends and I are planning a trip to PR in the New Year and are researching beach camping options, as we will all be on a budget. Can anyone recommend good campsites (beach or elsewhere), or offer any info on safety concerns, whether or not we should rent a car, how we should plan to store our luggage while camping, etc.?
Thanks in advance!
info we are from Australia planning to go to PR first for 3 months then spent our last month in DR after we going back home. (holiday during December to March)
me and my best friend have been straggling looking for hotels. we seen different prices from more than $2000- $1100 just for a month, I can image 3 months. these hotels are not even 3/4 stars hotels. we are looking for a hotel in Bayamon, or San Juan we don't mind where, just maybe close to the Centro. The hotel needs to provide us…
Hi! We are looking for people travelling in PR around christmas-new years time and interested of sharing a rental house at Vieques / Culebra islands. We are a small family (couple+toddler ) from Finland and would like to rent a house/villa without spending all our budget in it. Dont hesitate to contact :)
I will be staying in PR for a little over a week, and plan on renting a car from San Juan. From there, I would travel counter clock-wise going to Arecibo, Rincon, Ponce, El Yunque, and ending up in Vieques.
My question: should I leave the rental car in Fajardo somewhere while I take the ferry and spend a couple nights on Vieques? Is this advisable? Any suggestions? My other thought is to return the car to SJ and take a short flight to Vieques instead - but I would much rather experience…
Can someone recommend a nice hostel in puerto rico, where it's easy to meet other travellers, backpackers?
It would be perfect, when there is the possibility included to take surf lessons (or diving), but the most important thing is to meet other people, maybe at the beach but also with the option to party.
Any suggestions? Budget: around 50$/night
Don't even bother! This is the worst car rental experience ever! I have traveled all over the world and never been disrespected the way I was at this place. Not only did they try to "swindle" me into paying more for services I didn't use, they BLATANTLY lied to my face and told me inaccurate information about daily charges.
When we confronted the manager about the issues, they continued to "call for backup" and slyly said, "the customer didn't know they had to pay... blah blah blah..." in…
I'll be flying to Tortola from Miami. As part of the flight, I have a layover in San Juan. I've never visited San Juan before, so I was thinking about taking an earlier flight in and getting out to see the city for 3-4 hours before my flight out. I know this won't do San Juan/Puerto Rico justice, but it's better than nothing, right?
Therefore, I wanted to ask if it would make sense to explore on my own, hire a tour guide/driver, or just stay put in the airport. Any thoughts and/or…
