Parques Muñoz Rivera & Sixto Escobar
Parques Muñoz Rivera & Sixto Escobar information
Lonely Planet review
Spanning half the width of Puerta de Tierra between the Atlantic and Av Ponce de León, the green space known as Parque Muñoz Rivera dates back over 50 years and injects some much-needed breathing space into the surrounding urbanity. It has shade trees, trails, a kids’ playground, and a ‘Peace Pavilion,’ which sometimes hosts community events.
Parque Sixto Escobar – named for the famed Puerto Rican boxer – was the site of the eighth Pan American Games, held in 1979, and is now home to an Olympic athletics track and the gusty Balneario Escambrón.
