Brenda McLaughlin appointed as SVP and General Manager of Lonely Planet Americas

Lonely Planet announced today the appointment of Brenda McLaughlin as the new Senior Vice President and General Manager of Lonely Planet Americas.

Reporting to Stephen Palmer, Lonely Planet’s Managing Director of Publishing, McLaughlin will join the company in Oakland on October 22nd. She will be responsible for defining and executing the strategy to drive growth, in both revenues and audiences, across the Americas, including the US, Canada, and Latin America.

McLaughlin is charged with maintaining the company’s status as the market leader in both print and digital travel publishing while profitably growing market share for both revenue streams.

She joins from Antenna International, where she was Vice President of Digital Media and Product Marketing, defining and implementing the company’s vision and product roadmap, delivering a portfolio of multimedia programs to the world’s leading museums and cultural points of interest.

McLaughlin has a career history of managing internationally-renowned brands across multiple product lines and media, leading teams to deliver award-winning content and sustained revenue growth. Prior to Antenna International, McLaughlin served as Executive Vice President of IDG Books Worldwide, where she oversaw all worldwide brand and product development of the For Dummies series, transforming it from a technical imprint into a comprehensive ‘how to’ series. She also launched IDGB’s internet publishing division, directed Frommers.com, and acquired and integrated brands such as CliffsNotes, Macmillan, and Hungry Minds.
