Lonely Planet announces new US Online Business Development Director

Laura Szkrybalo has been tapped as Lonely Planet’s US Online Business Development Director. Based out of Lonely Planet’s  Oakland office   Szkrybalo will be responsible for developing syndication partnerships in the US market, identifying technology partnerships that  advance Lonely Planet product development , overseeing Lonely Planet’s Online shop for the region, and functioning as a central point for LP digital strategy in the US office.  

Laura brings experience that will help take our digital business to the next level,” said John Boris, Lonely Planet Americas executive vice president. “We’re thrilled to have Laura on board and I see her role as vital component to growing Lonely Planet’s digital assets, exposure and awareness.’

Szkrybalo comes to Lonely Planet  from The Wall Street Journal Digital Network  where she was Director of Business and Audience Development and managed online partnerships with Yahoo, Google, Digg and Facebook.

Prior to The Wall Street Journal Digital Network, she served as a Sales Manager at Chronicle Books, working on Special Markets and spearheading a nascent direct-to-consumer sales channel involving both online and offline initiatives.
