Douglas Schatz says of the appointment: “I am delighted to announce Shona as our new Marketing and Sales Director. She brings strong brand marketing skills and an exceptional knowledge of the travel publishing market. I look forward to working with her in this pivotal role as we rapidly move from a travel guidebook publisher to a multi media travel services provider.”

Gold said:”I’m excited about leading the Marketing and Sales team to further success and to ensure we maintain and defend our leading position in the UK. A key area of focus for the next three to five years will be increasing brand usage and digital engagement by growing audiences from core independent travellers to a wider psychographic target. We will continue to grow our all important print revenues while changing perceptions of Lonely Planet as we transform into a cross media organisation.”
