Lonely Planet review for O Caçula

Tucked down a narrow lane, O Caçula serves healthy-tasting lighter fare in a trim, contemporary, bi-level space. In addition to a few vegetarian dishes (vegie lasagne, ratatouille), there are grilled items (chicken breast with Roquefort cheese), steak, and fresh juices and smoothies.

Start to finish, the best meal that we had in Porto

    parker206 recommends this,

It takes a little more effort to get off the main street and find a place that doesn't survive on location alone. My wife and I were happy that we put in the effort. O Cacula has a few tables on it's lower level and they were all filled, so my wife and I decided to give it a go. We could have chose to sit upstairs but the lower level had a buzz about it and we were warmly invited by George to sit and have a drink at the counter while we waited for something to open up. We got a bottle of wine ($11) that was awesome, by Cartuxa, and enjoyed a well thought out and well executed warm brie bruschetta. A table freed up shortly after and George (part owner/cashier/waiter/menu creator/bartender) brought us our entrees. I had the beef rump steak, and my wife had the fresh local cod. Both dishes seemed to have a Brazilian flare. My wife and I ate at a few places during our stay, The Magestic Cafe was a great environment, food was lackluster but decent. Sandeman had an amazing view, food was decent. However, O Cacula stood out and I would highly recommend it if you want local ingredients, well thought out food for reasonable prices. Entrees around 10 Euro.
