    There is nothing I like to do more than sitting around, staring at a body of water, reading something girlie, and eating the beach equivalent of street food. Cascais, only a 45 minute train ride from Lisbon, pairs an old-town vibe, with the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Plus, it's the easiest beach to get to from the big city.

    Cascais was once a sleepy fishing town until 1870 when King Luis I vacationed here. It has been a destination for Lisboetas ever since. Just a short train trip outside of Lisbon, the town square is cute and offers many places to eat. While on a visit to Cascais last November, we ate at Jardim dos Frangos – Av Marginal.
