Lonely Planet review for Restaurante Zé Manel
Tucked down a nondescript alleyway, this little gem, which is papered with scholarly doodles and scribbled poems, is easy to miss. Despite its location, it’s highly popular, so come early or be ready to wait. Try the good feijoada á leitão (a stew of beans and suckling pig).

Authentic to its bones
curiousdave recommends this,
Tiny and with a queue of workers outside when we left at 1.30pm (get there early for lunch before everyone tips out of the workplace at 1pm). The real speciality of the restaurant is Ossos or bones. These appear to have been slowly cooked in something delicious and you just pick the meat off the bones. But don't stop there - try anything that comes with the house special potatoes - if you have ever wondered what manna tasted like - this is it. All this with helpful, friendly and very fast service.
