Introducing Reszel
Like Lidzbark Warmiński, the big drawcard of Reszel (reh-shel) is its castle. It easily dominates the tiny market town from a slightly elevated position, and is testament to Reszel’s long history: the town began life as the easternmost outpost of the Warmian bishopric in the 13th century and remained a prosperous craft centre until the wars of the 18th century. Today it’s quite the backwater, though its minuscule centre still boasts the original street plan and a fine parish church.
