Land

Bus

The most useful buses are those to Trzebnica (6.50zł, 40 minutes), Sobótka (5.50zł, one hour), Świdnica (5zł, 1½ hours), Lubiąż (9zł, 1½ hours) and Nysa (12zł to 16zł, two hours), none of which is served by direct train. From Wrocław you can also reach Warsaw (46zł to 50zł, five to 6½ hours), Poznań (35zł, 2½ hours), Częstochowa (28zł, three hours) and Białystok (62zł, seven hours), but the train is usually more convenient. Note that some regional buses arriving from the north terminate at Wrocław Nadodrze train station on Cathedral Island instead of at the main bus station.

There are a number of international bus routes (go to window 3) to places including Prague (from 110zł, 4½ hours, daily) and plenty of cities in Western Europe.

Train

Fast trains to Katowice (36zł, 2¾ hours) depart every two hours or so and pass via Opole (22zł, 1¼ hours) on their way. Most continue to Kraków (34zł, 4½ hours). There are at least half a dozen fast trains plus three express trains to Warsaw (50zł, five to 6½ hours); some call at Łódź (42zł, 3¾ to 4½ hours) en route. Wrocław also has regular train links with Poznań (34zł, two to 2½ hours, roughly hourly), Wałbrzych (13zł, two hours, every two hours), Jelenia Góra (18.50zł to 31zł, 3½ hours, up to 15 daily), Legnica (11zł, 1½ hours, roughly hourly) and Kłodzko (15.50zł, 1¾ hours, every two hours).

Air

Wrocław Copernicus Airport (071 358 1100; www.airport.wroclaw.pl) is in Strachowice, 13km west of the city centre. There are currently direct connections with Warsaw (up to seven times daily) as well as Dublin (daily), Frankfurt am Main (daily), London Gatwick and London Stansted (each daily), Munich (twice daily) and Rome (four times weekly).
