Bus

The bus terminal (084 638 4986; ul Hrubieszowska 11) is 2km east of the Old Town but well serviced by city buses O and 3. Bus stands along Partyzantów and at Plac Sfefanidesa are convenient for the latter.

Private minibuses leave for several destinations from the stand right opposite the bus terminal; check the timetable for details of departures.

Buses to Lublin (12zł, two hours, every half-hour) run roughly between 5am and 6pm. There are also plenty of minibuses (10zł, two hours, every half-hour). There is an afternoon bus to Puławy (16zł, 2½ hours, 1.15pm) via Lublin.

There are a few buses to Kraków a day (21zł to 35zł, four to five hours), and there are four buses daily to Warsaw (32zł, five hours). There are only three buses to Sandomierz (20zł, three hours) in the morning.

There are two morning buses to Rzeszów (16zł, three hours) and one to Przemyśl (17zł, 3½ hours).

There are frequent normal buses and minibuses to Zwierzyniec (3.50zł, 40 minutes, 32km), the entry point for Roztocze National Park. Alternatively, from ul Akademicka in the centre of town, take a bus headed to either Biłgoraj or Nisko, which may be passing through Zwierzyniec.

Train

The train station (084 084 9436; ul Szczebrzeska 11) is about 1km southwest of the Old Town; walk or take the city bus. There’s a 5.30am train to Lublin (28zł, 2½ hours, 116km) – there are others, but they take more than eight hours. Similarly with the morning trains to Warsaw (46zł, 5½ hours, 293km), forget the second one, which takes 11 hours. There are a few morning trains to Kraków (46zł, seven hours, 318km).
