    Morskie Oko

The emerald-green lake called Morskie Oko , about 12km southeast of Zakopane, is a popular day trip. Buses and minibuses regularly depart from ul Kościuszki for Polana Palenica (30 minutes), from where a 9km-long road continues uphill to the lake. Cars, bikes and buses are not allowed up this road, so you'll have to walk (allow about two hours each way).

Alternatively, take a horse-drawn carriage to within 2km of the lake. The last minibus to Zakopane returns between 17:00 and 18:00. Most travel agencies organise day trips here.

Parish Church of the Holy Family

At the northern end of ul Krupówki is the neo-Romanesque Parish Church of the Holy Family , which looks as though it has been imported from suburban Boston in the USA. It was built at the end of the 19th century when the wooden Old Church, 200m to the west and dating from 1851, could no longer cope with the numbers of worshippers. The Old Church has charming carved wooden decorations and pews, and Stations of the Cross painted on glass.
