Cloth Hall
Lonely Planet review for Cloth Hall
Bedecked with gargoyles, the Renaissance centrepiece of the Rynek Główny was once the centre of Kraków's rag trade. The ground floor now holds a tatty tourist market, while the 1st floor is the location of the Gallery of 19th-Century Polish Painting (Galeria Sztuki Polskiej XX Wieku). The four-room gallery represents the best of Polish portraiture, landscapes and historical painting, the highlight being Jan Matejko's The Prussian Homage.
