Lonely Planet review
Manila’s most underrated museum has a stunning collection of pre-colonial gold ornaments in the basement, along with ancient pottery, and occasionally superb changing exhibits of contemporary Filipino art. It’s on the grounds of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank), which bought this stuff at the height of the Marcos era in the ‘70s and ‘80s. There are some real bricks here – a few of the gold armlets and necklaces weigh upwards of 1kg.
