It's been now three years since I last left with my backpack for a travel, and due to this I have become a bit rusty.
A few months ago, I had an opportunity with my work to take the whole month of September off, and being the Philippines the only country in SE Asia I had never been to, I decided to go there.
The trip is organized in two parts: first 15 days in cebu and surroundings, then flight to palawan 12 days and take ferry from el nido to go north eventually reaching…
Not only do you get 20% of all domestic travel but also reduced entry fees (sometimes by as much as 40%) and you also get these discounts at hotels but they are not publicised (I only found at on my last day much to my annoyance)Although the poster I saw was published by the Cebu government I assume it applies across the whole country
Going to the Philippines for the first time in October for 17 days and need to make a choice between these two.
Most important to me is beautiful nature and authenticity. Prefer the feeling of "real" villages rather than touristic locations.
With these preferences, which do you recommend?
Also, which are more likely to suffer from bad weather in October?
Does anybody have a recommendation for a pension house in or near Bien Unido, Bohol? I was told there are a few there. Or a pension house in a nearby community. Thanks.
Want to go to the Philippines in October or November - for appr. 3 weeks - but don't know where to go.
I'm amateur-shooter - nature photography, especially - field'n'night macro, bugging etc :)
I've a tent and an experience of using it - in mainland SEA, also on Borneo, Sumatera, but need some civilisation also - at least, sometimes.
So, I need:
- forest, hills, mountains, nighties, rivers... - passable on foot
- guesthouse or smth like it - to charge, sleep, eat etc
- safe surroundings -…
Hey guys. I'm currently in Manila, Philippines at the moment.
Gonna heading up north to the Banaue Rice Terraces. After that I wanted to see if it was possible I could hitch a boat ride across the Luzon Strait to Kaohsiung, Taiwan somehow. Do you reckon it's possible I could meet some local fishermen or captains that would be traveling in that direction? I understand that I'd probably have to pay a bit and most likely do some work for accommodation in order to hitch a ride.
Just wondering, for…
I will be flying Bacolod to Honolulu on PAL, changing planes in Manila.
Will I be able to change my pesos back to dollars in the Terminal 2 departure/transit area?
I have a long layover and would like to buy lunch [I know choices are very limited] before getting rid of my pesos.
Departure fees are now included in the ticket price, right?
Has anyone on here stayed at Sailor's Inn in Intramuros? It is listed in LP as P350 for a dorm. I just want to know if it exists, if there are lockers or not, and if I can just show up (in December) and get a bed. I can't seem to find any information about this place on YouTube or on the net, which seems odd since it is listed in the latest edition of LP (May 2015). I've called the number given in LP a few times but only get a busy signal.
Otherwise... if anyone can suggest a cheap place…
I have 2 weeks off from work and plan to travel to SE Asia solo. I would really appreciate thoughts on where would be best to go?
I am after:
Beaches with snorkelling / diving,
Some jungle trekking,
Not too much travel around due to only 2 weeks, although I am are experienced traveler and won't balk at an overnight bus etc and would probably rather do that than take planes.
Good value for money,
Basically the more impressive the scenery the better, especially if we can…
Dear Philippine travelers, I need to buy a roundtrip ticket from Manila to Ho Chi Minh City and back. When I look up flights going to Viet Nam on Kayak.com from Manila I see a low cost flight advertised by Tiger Air. However, though they quote the approximate price in US dollars (I am from the US) they make a disclaimer that the fare is charged to my credit card in Singapore dollars from which they approximate the equivalent charge in US Dollars in their offering. My concern is whether I will…
