Lonely Planet review for Cafe by the Ruins
The interior is awash in art, foliage and sculpted wood. It specialises in Cordillera-inspired Filipino dishes. Try the eggplant omelette with carabao cottage cheese for breakfast, or the suman at tsocolate (hot chocolate and sticky-rice cake) for afternoon tea.

Must Experience
danielle_sophia recommends this,
When going to Baguio, the city of pines one could just imagine a scenic view with lot of trees and high mountains, but nay it will not be as good as what you expect due to industrial developments,.
Cruising with time and thinking of some disappointments, I and some highschool friends came about Cafe by the ruins. From the out side it really looks like a ruin, and you will be intrigued. The location of the place is strategic for it is away from the traffic and the noises of the business district. It is like a mysterious place waiting to be explored.
I am a fan of the past civilizations and upon entry to the place you will be wrapped in an enchanting music that will send you way back when the natives still rule the place. The place has its own sense of ethnicity that will capture you in an enigma that will make you feel as though you entered a time machine and actually living in their time with a touch of finesse and sophistication (that was how I felt)
The ambiance is great for relaxation and time reminiscing. I will let you appreciate the beauty of nature,.
As for the food, all are organically produced and are health friendly, you don't need to worry about health complications when you eat.
We ordered local tea (which is really aromatic and delicious) The kamote bread (sweet potato bread) is also a must to taste, it has been known that the "kamote" is one of the most popular locally produced root crop in the highlands. It tastes so good its as if its melting on your mouth.
An order of "tapey" or local rice wine is also a must. It is very delicious and is comparable to the seasoned wine of other countries. Its saki for the japanese but a little sweeter .
Overall, it should be one of the must-see and must-try for tourist who wants to visit baguio, and who wants to experience the beauty of the past and wonders nature.Good for: atmosphere, food, Solo Travellers, service
