Manila's best Thai restaurant is hidden away on the second level of the Dusit Hotel Nikko. The dining room is elegant, befitting the 'royal' moniker. The cuisine is both lavish and inventive.

    A Taste of Thailand in Manila!

    Benjarong is the best Thai restaurant in Manila, I swear.

    For starters, we had the Yam Pla Duk Foo (P260 / US$7) which is a green mango salad topped with crispy fried catfish shreds. It's so good, I could have one whole order all to myself and be perfectly happy for the rest of the evening. Prior to that I've never had catfish in my entire life.

    For the main course we ordered Pla Krapong Jian Nam Makham (P450 / US$9) which is fried seabass in zesty tamarind sauce. We also had their excellent chicken wrapped in pandan leaves Gai Ho Bay Toey (P320 / US$6.50). For dessert I had the Bualoy Khai Wan (P160 / US$3) which is taro, pumpkin, and rice flour balls in warm coconut milk. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal, my only complaint is that the serving portion is too small! I would've liked to have a bigger bowl of the dessert.

    Delicious food, impeccable service, and a classy setting make Benjarong a great choice for a business dinner or a romantic evening. More importantly, the prices are not at all exorbitant as one would come to expect from a restaurant located inside Dusit Thani Hotel. So yes, even budget travellers can get 5-star food and 5-star treatment right in the heart of Makati, Manila's premiere business and shopping district.
