El Estadio Futbol Club
Famous among locals for promoting Peru’s obsession with ‘futbol,’ El Estadio Futbol Club seeks to score with each customer. In the past, a local soccer program used the restaurant as its broadcasting base. With countless soccer memorabilia hung on every available inch of wall space, one feels as if they have just walked into a Peruvian version of TGIFridays , only this restaurant worships soccer and soccer only.
The sports bar atmosphere gives the restaurant a lively ambiance. Whether you choose to dine inside with the soccer décor or outside with fresh air you can choose to do so next to statues of famous soccer players from all over the world.
If you’re feeling a little nationalistic or just miss home, you will enjoy the full size flags from all over the world hung from the ceiling. You are sure to spot your own.
The chefs’ boasted and award winning dish is ‘Jose Diaz’ which is their version of ‘lomo saltado’, a favorite local dish with beef, fresh onions, french fries, spice and tomato all sliced and grilled in beer to perfection. Typically served with rice, ‘Jose Diaz’ is a great way to experience freshness, spice and culture all in one dish. The menu is dominated with typical seafood and chicken dishes although they do have a nice selection of sandwiches and desserts. Most of their dishes are named after famous soccer players and local heroes.
Their staff is energetic and animated so don’t be shy. Feel free to flag down a waiter when you need anything. If it is spirits you need you will find an adequate cocktail menu and nationally brewed beers. Also named after soccer stars, mix it up by ordering one from your favorite team.
Lunchtime rush begins just before 2 o’clock. Part of the experience, however, is to dine while a soccer game plays on the flatscreen amidst cheering Peruvians.Good for: atmosphere, food, Groups, service
