Lonely Planet review for Matsuei
None other than the venerated Japanese super-chef Nobu Matsuhisa once co-owned this diminutive sushi bar, now situated on a San Isidro side street. Don’t let the modest appearance fool you: Matsuei serves up some of the most spectacular sashimi and maki (sushi rolls) in Lima. A must-have: the ‘acevichado, ’ a roll stuffed with shrimp and avocado, and then doused in a house-made mayo infused with ceviche broth. It will make your brain tingle in all the right places.

Amazing fresh sushi!
chamu195 recommends this,
I'm a Japanese and know what good sushi is. My husband and I thought we wouldn't go to sushi restaurant in South America but it was reviewed on New York Times and we decided to try here for lunch. They are amazing. Maybe one of the most fresh sushi's I have ever had! We sat at sushi counter and the chef was 3rd generation of Japanese. I was able to speak with him in Japanese and enjoy the hospitality. He told us all the fish is from local ocean. I enjoyed it so much and the price was so reasonable. I highly recommend this place to anyone and I will go back again if I ever visit Lima again!
