Getting there & away

Urubamba serves as the valley’s principal transportation hub. Every 15 minutes buses leave the terminal on the main highway for Cuzco (US$0.90, two hours) via Calca (US$0.30, 30 minutes) and Pisac (US$0.60, one hour) or via Chinchero (US$0.50, 50 minutes). Colectivo minibuses and taxis to Ollantaytambo (US$0.30, 30 minutes) also leave from the bus terminal. It’s located about 1km west of the main intersection at the grifo, where faster colectivo taxis to Cuzco (US$1.50, 1½ hours) leave when full. You can buy tickets for the morning bus to Quillabamba (US$4.50, five to six hours) via Ollantaytambo from a small shop just east of the grifo.
