Hey guys i am going on the Salkantay Trek with my friends alone without a company and i was wondering if it was possible to create an open fire during the nights. I am bringing a headlamp but i would like a fire at night. Also i was wondering if there was campsites were we could do open fires. Thanks!
Has anybody been to Chivay / Colca Canyon Area in December? How was the weather? Since December is the first month of the rainy season, did it affect your activities there? I realize it's difficult to be specific about weather. Do things like tour operators and bus companies shut down as it gets close to December 25? Are there any safety considerations, in terms of, is more vigilance required in Chivay / Colca Canyon Area than for, say, Arequipa?
I can book my return flight home from Ushuaia so that I have an 18 hour layover in either Lima or Buenos Aires. Can anyone suggest which would be more interesting, and what to do there in those 18 hours. I've never been to either, and don't know how far the airport is from the sights. Thanks!
I am coming with strong altitude problems (lung problems) from Huaraz to get away from the altitude. If I am lucky, the problems will be gone just by going down.
But maybe I will have to visit a clinic/hospital in Trujillo. Which one is good/recommendable? The price doesn't matter as I have a good travel health insurance.
Would be great to get fast replys! Thank you very much!
I arrived in Huaraz and did the hike to Laguna Wilca Cocha today. Tommorrow I want to do another dayhike to some beautiful place around Huaraz for acclimatization. What can you recommend and what can I do on my own tommorrow? I have been told Laguna Churup is not that nice.
Would be happy about a fast reply!
I have a full day in Puno and was planning to see the Uros and Taquile islands. I was curios if people here recommend booking a tour or is it fairly simple (and better) to go by yourself?
I would prefer just going around myself at a relaxed place but I couldn't find much information about how easy it is to travel between the islands and back to Puno
Thanks in advance

Hello, thorn tree people.
My partner and I are eloping to SA in a couple of months and have unfortunately left things until the last minute. We want to do the Inca Trail (or another amazing trek if anyone has any advice...?) but are on a pretty tight budget. I was hoping some of you would have some ideas for tour operators etc we could be in touch with who might have something to suit our budget. We won't need porters or anything like that and are happy with very simple comforts. Any…
