Bus & taxi

Schedules change frequently, but the focus is essentially on moving passengers to and from Lima and destinations in between such as Huánuco. Buses also serve local villages and Pucallpa. The road between Tingo and Pucallpa can be risky.

Buses to Lima (US$7 to US$12, 12 hours) are operated by Transportes León de Huánuco (56 2030), Transmar (56 3076), Transportes Rey (56 2565; Raymondi 297) and TransInter. Buses usually leave at 7am or 7pm. Some operators go to Pucallpa (US$5, nine hours). Faster service to Pucallpa is with Turismo Ucayali, which has colectivo taxis (US$14, six hours).

Tocache Express (56 3324) has cars to Tocache (US$8.50, four hours) from where trucks continue another five hours on to Juanjui.

Transportes Cueva del Pavos is a signed stop with mototaxis to the Cave of the Owls in Parque Nacional Tingo María.

Air

The airport is 1.5km from town, though at the time of research there were no scheduled services. At the airport you may be able to find light aircraft flying to nearby towns.
