Lonely Planet review
Puerto Maldonado finally has the backpacker accommodations it desperately needed. This clean, relaxing hostel has a mix of dorm and private rooms abutting a garden courtyard with hammocks, and a nice breakfast is included in the price. You can even brush up on your Peruvian street talk courtesy of the board in the common room.
Also runs cookery and Spanish courses. There are secure lockers and a kitchen to use, and the owner is one of the town’s best jungle guides.
Our independent authors have visited Tambopata Hostel and selected this as one of our recommended hostels in Puerto Maldonado.
Description provided by property
The house where the hostel is located was built in the 1960s, made totally from wooden cedar, and after 6 months of intense refurbishments and construction, the first and the only backpacker hostel in Puerto Maldonado was opened in May 2008. We offer a clean, safe environment, updated facilities, and create an atmosphere that is ideal to meet other travelers - all this at an affordable price. Many people come here for a few days and stay for much longer!
