Say It Your Way or Use This Letter:

I'm writing to request the President follow the lead of Congress in issuing a proclamation naming September National Passport Month.

The purpose of National Passport Month is to create a time to educate the public about the incredible opportunities available to those who obtain and use passports as well as the positive impact international travel has on individuals and the critical role it can play in fostering greater understanding, goodwill and peace throughout the world.

Over 50 organizations support this effort and thousands of people across the nation have signed petitions requesting this proclamation. Moreover, the State Department also supports making September the first annual National Passport Month.

Please convey to the President my support for proclaiming National Passport Month in time to launch educational and national awareness campaigns this September.

"I think National Passport Month is a much-needed and timely effort. As someone who didn't own a passport or leave the country until he was 25, I know what a mind-expanding experience international travel can be."
