Lonely Planet review for Daikoku

In a feed-off between Ichizen and Daikoku, we narrowly chose this to be the best Japanese restaurant in Moresby - outstanding! The sushi, sashimi and other Japanese favourites are very good. At dinner, chefs will prepare your meal on a hotplate at your table with great skill and showmanship. Also serves lunchtime bento boxes.

    Excellent

    lagoulue recommends this,

Excellent place for lunch or dinner. Teppanyaki is very good (try a banquet) and the lunch boxes or daily lunch very good value. If you get lucky you can also see the staff bringing in a 50 kg tuna during lunch for the evening's sashimi! Very calm and attentive Central Province staff. There are a few western options too.

OK It is my favourite in Port Moresby

    waltervanpraag recommends this,

The food is absolutely wonderful here. The staff are really good too, and low and behold, for a Japanese restaurant the prices are really quite cheap!

The Daikoku Special (Steak and Lobster) is absolutely to die for and enough to see you through the next day. Tonight was second time this week I came here. My mate ordered the Prawn and Chicken equivalent underneath it on the menu. The staff cooked it Tepanyaki style and shared the food between us... Yummo...

Budget travellers, consider this for about K100 including a beer or two per person!
