Lonely Planet review for Asia Aromas
The Chinese and Thai dishes, and friendly service here are so good it's worth booking ahead to secure an evening table. The Thai prawns with lemongrass and chilli are fantastic. This place is popular with the Moresby's glitterati, cabinet ministers, expats and the well-to-do, so you never know who you'll be sitting next to. Refreshingly, the prices are more sweet than sour.

Disappointing in every way

We have been to Asia Aromas perhaps ten times in the past year but the food and service has measurably declined and there are now several other Chinese restaurants in Port Moresby that are cleaner, cheaper and attract more discerning Chinese clientele. The last meal had us vow not to return when the last of their coral trout, ordered in advance by phone, was dutifully delivered to an adjacent table (which had arrived after us) and consumed in our sight. The barbecued pork we had to substitute, when the owners eventually came to apologise, was cold, the fried chicken wings greasy and the fresh chilli ordered as a side dish with the entree was non-existent - apparently they had run out of chilli! Most disappointing.
