Working and volunteering

Volunteer opportunities are few in Panama, so potential volunteers should look for programs run by reputable, well-known NGOs.

It’s difficult for foreigners to find work in Panama. The government prefers to give jobs to Panamanians, and labor laws reflect this sentiment. Foreigners legally employed in Panama generally have their own businesses, possess skills not found in Panama, or work for companies that have special agreements with the Panamanian government.
