Traveling with my family, we have two girls aged 13, 15. We have a choice of traveling over Christmas break or in June for 3 weeks. We are especially interested in wilderness like beaches, snorkeling, jungle, and mountain walks, don't mind some roughing it for brief intervals. Indigenous cultures interest us too. I realize this is vague, but is flying in to David and doing Bocas and Boquete area in June a good idea as the principal destination and time of year weather-wise? Is there another…

I just came back from those islands. I booked a package with the hostel and did not get to see the islands listed in the catalog. Did not remember or thought to take them in written prior to leave. The islands are not what you see in the internet. The sanitary conditions are terrible and you do not get what you pay for. I was around the world and I am not exigent but staying there for one night was more than enough. The canoe which transported was not covered. The canoe did not have a ladder to…

Hi!

I am considering to travel to Panama late october - early november but I am reading in every travel guide that that period has the most rainfall. Is it possible/advisable to visit Panama in that period or would you recommend to look out for another destination? I have never travelled to a country with such extreme seasons (at least that is how the seasons appear to me) before and could use some advice....

This little barber shop is a walk into the past, and I wouldn't miss it. Make it part of your Pedestrian Zone walk, along with Salsipuedes. These classic brothers won't last forever, and this type of authentic historical place is not long for this world.

Located on Calle 16 Este, off of the pedestrian portion of Avenida Central. It's a run-down neighborhood, so keep your wits about you, but it's perfectly safe during the daytime if you don't…

Hello, I am in Panama and wish to find any companion gender 50+ to visit that area not recommended to visit solo.
I will post the same for the other forums.
I won't recommend the visit to Panama Viejo. I did not enjoy it. There is nothing to see than ugly stones and the cathedral is in ruins. If you saw Maya ruins or others, you can easily skip those ones. The day trip recommended in the LP for the island Taboga was not spectacular. The ocean was dirty and I did not swim. I lost my boat return…

Hi, I am right now in Panama and I could tell you the following. My airline Spirit Airlines would sell me a return ticket from P.C. to Fort Lauderdale and refund me the cost upon arrival in Panama airport. I did not know this and I bought a return ticket (with my miles) according to what I was told to do in this travel forum. If your airline could do the same, it would be good. I did not want to take any chance and face departure problems at the airport. I never thought my airline would do this…

Approximately how much should we budget for car rental (cheapest car available) in Panama? Does anyone have experience with a rental company that will allow you to leave your rental car at the Costa Rica/Panama border and have one waiting for you in Costa Rica? Any other suggestions on how to get around without hopping on a bus tour?

Hello!
I will leave with a shuttle from Bocas del Toro, and arriving in the evening in Panama City.
As I have a flight very early the next morning, I wanna go straight to the airport and sleep there for a few hours.
I've been told the taxi from where the shuttle arrives to the airport is super expensive, so is there anyone who could tell me how to do it with public transport?
(If possible it shouldn't involve much walking as I got a LOT of luggage with me) :)
Thanks a lot!!!!

Hi! I am traveling alone with a 22 hour stopover in Panama City, and I arrive around 3pm. I am staying downtown near the Bristol hotel. I really want to see Ancon Hill, and one of the canals. My main question is, if I take a taxi from my hotel to Ancon Hill, will I be able to easily get a taxi back? I do want to hike up a bit because I am hoping to catch a glimpse of a sloth! I don't want to wander around trying to hail one off of the street if there is any dangerous areas nearby. I would use…
