I m planning a connection flight between Bogota and Quito, and I saw on Copaairlines 's site that if I take a connection flight by transiting through Panama city, I would have a lot of option among which there are layovers for 7h 8h or even 11h during the day time and I think this would be a perfect option for seeing panama city briefly. As I have never been there, I d like to ask for local advice:
1. How is the connection between the airport and the city center? Is it far? I found a site…
Does anyone know if there is anyway we ( 4 people ) can get on a canal transit trip? Unfortunately we have only a few days layover in Panama at the end of July and the only dates available look to be either side of when we are there. Arrghhh!!! Has anyone heard of people being able to hitch a ride on any cruisers or shipping vessels and if so how would one go about it. Thanks
This overnight bus is a great option to make the long trip to Bocas del Torro. Just make sure you dress warm. The bus is a real fridge! You must buy your ticket at the bus station in Panama City. When you buy your bus ticket they also give you the option of purchasing a water taxi ticket to Bocas from Almirante with with a company called "Taxi 25". This is a nice option and does not cost anymore than buying your water taxi ticket when you get to Almirante. You will arrive very early in…
Warning on a company called Bocas Transfers. They are running a scam business. STAY AWAY. They advertise a cheap price to provide a water taxi from Bocas and a nice air conditioned shuttle but there's a real problem. Here's how the system works: they claim their transportation will take you ALL the way to San Jose but they really just take you across the border. Once you go through customs they send you over to the public bus station. At this point they no longer provide their own shuttle. To…
Thanks for the replies re Santa Fe and getting to Caribbean.
My wife is keen to see the Caribbean and as we may well visit Gatun locks from Gamboa, is there a part of the coast close to there that is nice? I know I should avoid Colon and the guide book mentions a fort on the coast but nowhere seems to jump out of the book. Any suggestions? Could be for a day trip/ afternoon or max one night.
A youtube documentary on Santa Fe mountain village said there was a new road from Santa fe to Caribbean coast. I can't see it on the map. Is it true and anybody know anything about the road/ coast there?
I would like to hike the plantation trail in park Sobernia. Does anyone have experience on the best way to get there and back from the city? The metrobus appears to stop 5km away and the inter city buses to Gamboa appear complicated. From what I understand a taxi is ~ 25 each way. Once at the park, how easy is it to get back to the city (via taxi or bus). Thanks in advance.
Would like to break the journey from Gamboa to Santa Catalina (6-8 hours?) with a stop half way for a coffee/ lunch. Ideally something local which would give us a taste of panama outside of tourist spots.
Guide books seems to suggest Penonome or Nata? Any views?
so... to get a cheap flight one must "suffer" a 24-hour layover(give or take an hour)in Panama City. I have been to the Canal Zone so am not into returning.
I arrive at 7:15 pm from Guatemala and I am staying at Casa Ramirez in SanFrancisco and now I'm wondering what to do for the evening?? Not really a drinking/dancing kinda person unless it's propping myself at a bar for a drink or 2.
The next day(08/01) I really wanted to go to Casco Viejo and to Cerro Ancon. A taxi ride? or a private guide…
