Lonely Planet review
Housed in a creaky, colonial mansion, Luna’s masterfully blends Spanish-colonial architecture with funky, laid-back backpacker vibes and great service. Shell out the extra dollar for a dorm with air-conditioning, A bit loony and very friendly, it's the kind of hostel people keep talking about long after their trip.
Perks include free bikes, laundry service, an activities concierge and a basement movie house showing popular flicks.
Our independent authors have visited Luna's Castle Hostel and selected this as one of our recommended hostels in Panama City.
Description provided by property
This is what Lonely Planet says . . .'Lunas Castle is, bar-none, the best backpacker spot in Panama City. Housed in a creaky, colonial mansion near the waters edge, Lunas Castle blends historic Spanish architecture with funky, laid-back backpacker vibes. Although its the newest accommodation in the capital, the owners winning formula of professional service, international atmosphere and shoestring prices are sure to make this a legendary stop on the Gringo Trail.
This is what we say . . . Imagine living in a restored centuries old mansion. The ceilings are lofted, the wood carvings are originals, and the ocean view is unobstructed. The three-tiered, reclined seating movie theater shows the latest releases. Art adorns every wall in the hostel. Couches are throughout, hammocks constantly swing, and the coffee is bottomless.
The staff is the best of the best. They will help you organize a trip to San Blas, sailboats to Colombia, bus rides to Bocas del Toro and, of course, recommend the finest that Panama City has to offer.
If you are looking for a chill hostel, you have found it. If you are looking for an easy place to meet tons of other travelers, you have found it. And if you feel like closing out your evening with a cocktail, the bartenders in Relic (the bar in the outdoor courtyard), will mix it up for you.
We hope you enjoy it!
