Lonely Planet review

A 25-storey glass and steel tower perched over the Bahía de Panamá, this is the most well-rounded, all-service business hotel in the city. And it's Inter-Continental, so the style and services are standardised.

The reason this hotel outshines the others in its class is its prime, seaside location on the edge of the dining and nightlife district of Bella Vista, plus its standard amenities. Every room has a bathtub, bathrobe, broadband Internet access, fresh flowers, coffee-maker, satellite TV and daily paper (the Miami Herald, but hey, it's free). For a little extra, you can upgrade to an ocean view - do it, you can look at the Panama City skyline from any old hotel. The suites are a big jump in space and importantly, layout: you can appreciate the gorgeous view from your in-room jacuzzi. This is better value than bumping up to the executive floors which give you private lounge and dining facilities but little else for the price. Tennis courts, a pool, gym and sauna, fine dining, and a lovely cocktail lounge are also here.
