Getting around
For a small Pacific island, the traffic can be unbelievable in downtown Koror, especially during rush hour. There's just the one main road and, especially on the way to Malakal and Arakabesang, no pavement to speak of, which means that walking can be a hair-raising affair. Legging it to Babeldaob can just about be ruled out, given that you'll be dodging falling coconuts, feral dogs and that steady stream of traffic all at once. If you do set out on foot, just be alert - that's all we ask. Often, drivers will inquire if you need a lift; a small tip is expected.
